3 Basic Steps: Daily Jewelry Cleaning
1.Warm Water and Mild Detergent
Use a neutral detergent to clean your jewelry. Hand soaps without moisturizers or harsh chemicals are a good choice. Prepare some warm water and add a couple of drops of the mild detergent. Soak your jewelry in this solution for a while, then gently brush it with a soft-bristled toothbrush. The warm water helps dissolve any grease on the surface of the jewelry and dust from the air. Avoid using overly acidic or alkaline cleaners as they may damage your jewelry and the gemstones set in it.
2.Quick Drying
Once you have finished cleaning your jewelry, remember to dry it quickly.
You can use a soft towel or paper towel to blot the water off the jewelry, otherwise, natural drying of the water droplets may leave water stains. You can also use a hairdryer on a cool setting (do not use hot air!) to gently blow the jewelry dry. Make sure to support the jewelry securely during drying to prevent it from slipping during the blow-drying process.
3.Storing Jewelry
Once you have confirmed that the jewelry is thoroughly dry after cleaning, you can store it in a clear, hard zip-lock bag. A sealed bag protects the jewelry from moisture and dust in the air. Store each piece of jewelry separately to avoid abrasion against each other. If storing earrings, place them in two separate hard bags. If you prefer using a velvet pouch for storage, it is recommended to place the jewelry into a clear hard bag first before placing it inside the velvet pouch, as velvet tends to absorb moisture and can create a relatively humid environment inside the bag, which is not suitable for direct storage of jewelry. Additionally, avoid placing jewelry in direct sunlight.
